Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre is celebrating a record-breaking fundraising result from its 10th annual Women’s Day Luncheon.
The organization announced this week that the May 14 event in Cobourg raised more than $84,000, the highest total in the luncheon’s history.
Cornerstone says the funds will support a wide range of programs and services for individuals and families impacted by gender-based violence across Northumberland.
Services supported by the fundraiser include emergency shelter, counselling, outreach programs, prevention initiatives and other supports designed to help women, children and families build safer futures.
The luncheon brought together community members, donors, sponsors and supporters for an afternoon focused on empowerment and awareness. Guests also heard from keynote speaker Brandi Leifso, founder and CEO of EVIO Beauty, who shared her personal story and entrepreneurial journey.
“Each year, the luncheon is a reminder of the incredible community of supporters we have, and that when we work together, we can make real change for women and children in Northumberland County,” said Executive Director Nancy Johnston.
Johnston said the funds raised will directly support programs and services that help residents affected by violence and abuse.
Cornerstone also thanked the many sponsors, donors and volunteers who helped make the event possible, noting that community support remains essential to its work.
The organization provides a range of services throughout Northumberland County, including emergency shelter, counselling, education and prevention programs aimed at addressing gender-based violence and supporting survivors.
Officials say the record-breaking result reflects both the growing awareness of the issue and the community’s commitment to ensuring help is available when it is needed most.
The annual Women’s Day Luncheon has become one of Cornerstone’s signature fundraising events and a key source of support for its ongoing programs and services.
