The Northumberland OPP Detachment Board is set to discuss proposed changes to Ontario’s drinking laws today during a meeting in Alderville. The changes would allow alcohol to be consumed in more public spaces.
Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander tells Oldies 100.9 these specific changes to the Liqour Control Act are not a good fit for Brighton.
Ostrander says the way he sees it – the consumption of alcohol in more public spaces in Brighton doesn’t enhance the enjoyment of outdoor events.
Ostrander says bottom line, he believes more drinking in public is not something Brighton residents want to see.
