Quinte West residents will get another chance to celebrate Canada Day tonight after Wednesday evening’s fireworks were postponed because of severe weather.
The city made the decision shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday, cancelling both the fireworks display and the remainder of the evening’s live music performances due to deteriorating weather conditions.
The fireworks have now been rescheduled for Thursday, July 2, at dusk in Centennial Park.
City officials thanked residents for their understanding and say they look forward to welcoming the community back to complete the Canada Day celebrations.
The fireworks were originally scheduled to conclude a full day of Canada Day festivities in Quinte West before storms moved into the area.
Residents planning to attend tonight’s rescheduled fireworks are encouraged to check Quinte West’s official communication channels before heading out in case weather conditions require any additional changes.
