The Municipality of Brighton is investing more than $154,000 in local non-profit organizations and community groups through its 2026 Community Grant Program.
Council approved a total of $154,809 in funding through the program, which supports organizations providing services, programs and events that enhance the community and contribute to Brighton’s local economy.
The funding is divided into three categories.
Community Project Grants support smaller initiatives requesting up to $1,000. This year’s recipients include the Brighton Lawn Bowling and Croquet Club, Brighton Garden Club, Brighton Computer Club, Quinte SailAbility and the Waterfront Regeneration Trust.
Community Investment Grants provide up to $5,000 for projects, events and operating costs. Organizations receiving funding include the Brighton Baseball Association, Community Care Northumberland, the Codrington Farmers’ Market, Brighton Children’s Centre, Home Rainbow Youth Centre, the Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward and several local cemetery organizations.
The program’s largest funding stream, Non-Profit Major Grants, supports major programs and capital projects. Recipients this year include the Beacon Youth Centre, Sunny Days Group Program, Brighton Auxiliary Rescue Unit, Save Our Heritage Organization, Gift from the Heart, the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation and Greenwood Cemetery.
Municipal officials say the annual grant program reflects Brighton’s commitment to supporting organizations that provide valuable services, strengthen the community and improve quality of life for residents.
Funding for the grants was approved as part of the Municipality’s 2026 budget.
