The Quinte West OPP is increasing its presence in downtown Trenton with focused foot and bicycle patrols running through the summer.
Police say the initiative began June 15 and will continue until September 1, with officers patrolling the downtown core and nearby green spaces to enhance public safety, build community partnerships and respond to local concerns.
The patrols are designed to provide a visible police presence while encouraging positive interactions with residents, business owners and visitors.
In addition to responding to calls for service, officers will proactively address issues such as trespassing, disturbing the peace and drug related offences when necessary. Police say officers will also work with community partners to connect vulnerable individuals with available support services and resources.
The Quinte West OPP says the initiative is intended to balance enforcement, education and outreach while helping ensure the downtown core remains a safe and welcoming place for residents, businesses and visitors throughout the summer.
