For Anna Turnbull, life on the farm began with a simple fascination for horses.
That passion has grown into Dragonfire Farm, a 100-acre equestrian facility where she trains horses and riders, coaches students of all ages and continues to build a dream rooted in hard work, family and community.
Located in Roseneath, Dragonfire Farm is home to 25 horses, a seven-stall barn, a 70-by-110-foot indoor riding arena and a growing equestrian program that offers lessons, horse training and boarding. The farm also recently began producing its own hay as it continues to expand.
Beyond the farm, Anna serves as president of the Northumberland County Riders, where she has helped reinvigorate the organization by expanding schooling shows and introducing new opportunities for riders across a wide range of disciplines, from Western performance classes to jumping and English events.
In this episode of Growing Up on the Farm, Anna shares how riding lessons at the age of seven turned into a lifelong career, why working with horses is about building trust and confidence, and how her young daughter is already beginning her own journey in the equestrian world.
