Northumberland OPP are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a series of overnight thefts from vehicles in Brighton.
Police say three incidents were reported on August 22, including one involving an individual captured on surveillance video.
A resident on Pinnacle Street North contacted police after reviewing CCTV footage that showed an unknown person allegedly attempting to gain access to a vehicle on the property at around 3 a.m. The individual then left the area.
Officers also received two reports of items being stolen from vehicles overnight.
On Young Street, a resident reported a financial document, gift cards, loose change and other personal belongings were taken from a vehicle.
Police say Canadian currency and gift cards were also reported stolen from a vehicle on Alice Street.
As part of the investigation, OPP have released an image of a person captured on CCTV in the area and are asking anyone who recognizes the individual to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and reference incident E261214462. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
Police are reminding residents that thefts from vehicles are often crimes of opportunity and recommend keeping doors locked and valuables out of sight.
