Quinte Conservation is inviting the public to learn more about the future of the Third Depot Lake Dam in Frontenac County.
The conservation authority has commenced a Class Environmental Assessment study for the dam, which is located at the outlet of Third Depot Lake into Depot Creek in Lot 7, Concession 8, Hinchinbrooke Township.
The structure was built in the mid-to-late 1970s and is approaching the end of its lifespan.
Quinte Conservation says a decision will need to be made within the next five years on whether the existing dam should be decommissioned, rehabilitated or replaced.
A public information centre will give residents an opportunity to learn about the project, speak with Quinte Conservation staff and consultants, and view potential project outcomes.
The open house will take place Tuesday, September 29th, at the Verona Lions Hall, 4504 Sand Road in Verona.
Two sessions will be available, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
The event is free to attend.
