The Rose Quest is partnering with Giant Tiger in Cobourg for a new Dignity Drive this Thanksgiving weekend.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the Giant Tiger store.
The Rose Quest provides personal hygiene products to people in need, including items such as deodorant, toothpaste and shampoo.
Founder and Program Manager Rose Wilton says the Dignity Drive will give people an opportunity to learn more about the organization while making donations easier.
Wilton says the partnership with Giant Tiger dates back more than a decade, with owner Peter Hardlicke supporting The Rose Quest through donations, discounted products and other initiatives.
She says the Dignity Drive was Hardlicke’s idea, with Thanksgiving weekend chosen as the timing for the event.
Supporting local people in need
Wilton says The Rose Quest is preparing to support 218 seniors this holiday season, as well as approximately 50 to 60 students through the Northumberland Centre for Individual Studies.
The organization also helps when unexpected needs arise in the community.
Wilton says having a larger supply of hygiene products will give The Rose Quest more flexibility to respond to those situations.
She says donations can help the organization provide assistance not only to its regular clients, but also when an emergency situation comes up.
More ways to get involved
Wilton also says people who aren’t able to donate can still take part in the Dignity Drive by learning about The Rose Quest, volunteering or finding another way to contribute.
Wilton says The Rose Quest is always looking for volunteers.
More information about the organization and how to get involved is available through The Rose Quest.
