Jordan Hoyland is running for councillor in Murray Ward, where he and his wife have lived for 12 years while raising their two children. Hoyland describes himself as a neighbour first, with a small hobby farm and a firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities of rural life. He says his approach to representation starts with listening and being accessible to residents.
Priorities and Experience
Hoyland’s campaign focuses on issues he says affect residents in their everyday lives. His priorities include improving rural roads, expanding rural internet and cell service, protecting local waterways, supporting farmers and strengthening local businesses. He also wants Murray Ward to receive a fair share of municipal investment, with tax dollars directed toward the roads, infrastructure and services residents depend on.
Hoyland also emphasizes taxpayer responsibility, saying the municipality should look for smarter and more efficient solutions before asking families to pay more. He says residents should not have to fight to be heard at City Hall and wants to provide a direct connection between the ward and council.
Why Murray Ward
Hoyland says Murray Ward is special because of its people, including families, farmers, business owners and neighbours. His own rural lifestyle, including raising chickens, ducks, geese and goats, gives him a personal connection to the community he hopes to represent.
