Spencer Hutchison is a lifelong Trenton resident seeking a seat on Quinte West council, bringing a 30-year career in municipal land-use planning and extensive community involvement. He previously served one four-year term as the Trenton/CFB Trenton trustee on the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board after being elected in 2018.
Priorities and Experience
Hutchison’s professional career included municipal planning positions with the former Town of Trenton, the Municipality of Port Hope and the City of Belleville. He says that experience has provided him with knowledge of municipal planning and the challenges communities face as they grow.
Community service is also a central part of Hutchison’s background. He has served as a director with Quinte West Minor Soccer for more than 10 years, helping organize local programming. He is also a board member with Connect Quinte Affordable Housing Corporation, a non-profit organization focused on promoting affordable housing in Quinte West.
Hutchison also serves as a director with The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation, which works to support students’ well-being and success. He says his approach to public service is rooted in giving back, serving others and ensuring residents are represented.
Why Quinte West
As someone born and raised in Trenton, Hutchison says his connection to the community has shaped his desire to serve. His volunteer and professional experiences, he says, have reinforced his belief that everyone deserves to be heard and supported.
