It was a packed house, with standing room only, at the King Edward Park Arena and Community Centre Tuesday night for the All Candidates Event.
All mayoral, deputy mayoral, councillor and school board hopefuls were on hand to introduce themselves to their constituents and take questions from voters.
Current Mayor Brian Ostrander took the opportunity, while welcoming everyone to the event, to speak a bit about what he feels he has accomplished as he once again throws his hat into the mayoral ring.
Joyce Cassin, past president of the Brighton Rotary Club, was one of the organizers of the evening. She says she was approached by several people over the past few weeks urging her to put something like this together.
Questions ranged from issues surrounding growth and development to taxes and municipal spending, which is a hot-button topic in this municipal election.
Emily Rowley, who has been on council since 2010 and is once again vying to retain her seat, reminded everyone that the decisions made in this election will shape the future of Brighton in significant ways.
Most agreed that evening that this municipal election is going to be pivotal for Brighton, and indeed for communities across the province, come Oct. 26.
