Home sales increased in most areas covered by the Central Lakes Association of REALTORS® (CLAR) in October, although average selling prices continued to soften across much of the region.
The association reported 1,174 transactions across its six regions, with sales rising month-over-month in five areas. However, many markets recorded fewer sales and lower prices compared with October 2025.
In Northumberland County, 124 homes changed hands, up 5.1 per cent from September but down 9.5 per cent year-over-year. The average selling price was $635,428, a slight monthly increase but 10.9 per cent lower than a year earlier. There were 298 new listings and 735 active listings, with properties taking an average of 56 days to sell.
Durham Region recorded 582 sales, while Hastings County had 180 transactions. Both areas saw monthly sales increases, although average prices declined.
Peterborough City and County recorded 169 sales, up 13.4 per cent from September, while Kawartha Lakes had 85 transactions, down 15.8 per cent. Prince Edward County reported 34 sales.
CLAR President Christine Riley says buyers remain active, but affordability and borrowing costs continue to influence decisions. The association also says it plans to work with newly elected municipal councils to provide housing market information as communities address affordability, infrastructure and housing availability.
