Our local OJHL team is showing their military support – by taking part in pond hockey for the first time in 2019.
Fans can expect to see the Golden Hawks as referees at the annual weekend tournament – Proceeds to be shared by the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and Wounded Warriors Canada. The Pond Hockey Classic goes Feb. 1 to 3 in Batawa.
Director of Hockey Operations John McDonald says, the team’s proud to support both our local hospital and military – by wearing (and selling) their limited-edition blue jerseys.
He adds that they’re excited to continue working with Wendy Warner and her team at the Foundation.
Through a partnership with Leons Trenton, $40 from the sale of each $100 jersey goes to TMHF. Jerseys are sold in-store and at home games at The Hangar – Charitable tax receipts are also available.
Today is also a special day for the team – Players will join 8 Wing CFB Trenton personnel for a day of basic training, followed by a hockey game.
